US company Southern Power has acquired the 56MW Beech Ridge 2 wind farm in West Virginia from Invenergy for an undisclosed price.
The project, which came online on 1 May, is located in Greenbrier County and comprises 20 GE turbines.
Electricity and associated renewable energy credits generated by the facility are being sold under a 12-year power purchase agreement.
Southern Power will be the majority owner, while Invenergy will retain a minority stake.
Invenergy Services, a subsidiary of Invenergy that provides end-to-end energy solutions for asset owners, will operate and maintain the wind farm.
Southern Power chief executive Mark Lantrip said: “We are pleased to announce the acquisition of our 13th wind project.
“This project marks Southern Power’s first renewable asset in the Mid-Atlantic region, and it is an important step in the continued growth of Southern Power’s wind portfolio.”
Southern Power said the deal brings its wind portfolio to over 2.1GW, out of 4.51GW of renewable assets.
