SSE Renewables has submitted an application to the Scottish government to construct and operate the over 150MW Cloiche onshore wind farm.
The 36-turbine project would be located 11km southeast of Fort Augustus in the Monadhliath mountains in the Scottish Highlands and could go as high as 198MW depending on the turbine choice.
SSE Renewables development project manager for Cloiche Craig Cunningham said: “We have taken care to design the wind farm to minimise impact on the environment and have taken local communities’ opinions on board.
“We hope to build on the support we have received during the consenting process.
“If taken forward, this project will boost the local economy while helping the UK meet its net zero targets.”
The utility held a second round of local consultation events on the proposed development this January.
SSE Renewables director of development Mike Seaton said: “We are committed to enabling the transition to a net zero world in 2050 and every onshore wind farm we develop has a role to play in getting us there.”
Ash Design and Assessment have worked on the planning application for the company.
