SSE has submitted a planning application to the Scottish Government for proposed changes to the Bhlaraidh Wind Farm Extension.
The company said the revision seeks to increase the height of the consented 15 turbines on land beside the operational Bhlaraidh Wind Farm on the Glenmoriston Estate.
SSE added that the extended site has the potential to generate up to 108MW, bringing the combined capacity with the existing 108MW project to 216MW.
The Bhlaraidh extension team has consulted statutory stakeholders, community councils and the public, including exhibitions held in Invermoriston last June and September.
Ian Stewart, project manager, said: “Bhlaraidh Extension is an opportunity to build on the success of the operational wind farm at Bhlaraidh and significantly increase the amount of renewable electricity being generated in the Great Glen.
“We are grateful to the many members of the community who participated in our consultation process.”
The original extension was approved in August 2022, and the Section 36C variation application now seeks layout and design changes to maximise operating efficiency without adding turbines.
