Statkraft will purchase the Beaw Field and Mossy Hill wind farms under development in Shetland.
The Beaw Field will add around 72MW of installed capacity from its 17 turbines to Statkraft’s portfolio, while the 12-turbine Mossy Hill will add approximately 48MW of installed capacity.
Statkraft is also awaiting a decision from Scottish Ministers for the proposed 126MW Energy Isles wind farm, also in Yell.
In addition, Statkraft intends to open an office in Shetland later this year as part of a wider commitment to the islands.
Richard Mardon, Statkraft’s Head of UK Development said: “I’m really pleased that we’ve completed the purchase of these two sites in Shetland, which will eventually generate enough power for the equivalent of over 90,000 homes.
