Statkraft has confirmed it is preparing bids for six wind farm projects totalling up to 320MW of capacity for the next Irish renewables auction.
The company is now seeking wind turbine prices and tender packs are being issued to suitable suppliers for the projects.
The auction is due to be held in the fourth quarter of 2021 or the first quarter of 2022.
Statkraft development head Donal O’Sullivan said: “We are at a crucial stage in our renewable energy development in Ireland.
“Therefore, I am delighted to be able to announce this very robust portfolio of wind projects that we will be submitting for the RESS auction.
“For these projects, full wind farm planning permissions are in place, grid connection offers are imminent, and all six are completely auction-eligible. Once the auction concludes, we envisage that construction work will start in 2022 for the successful projects.”
“To help us get these projects auction-ready, we are looking to engage with suitable suppliers about their turbine pricing and would appeal to any suitable companies to submit a tender.”
Statkraft’s portfolio of six wind projects is the largest eligible capacity of any renewable energy developer in Ireland.
It holds 500MW of wind energy in Ireland and has a further 57MW in construction.
