Statkraft has officially opened two new onshore wind farms in Sweden adding almost 370MW to its operating onshore wind portfolio.
The Norwegian utility cut the ribbon on the the 270MW Björkhöjden and 99MW Ögonfägnaden wind farms in the neighboring counties of Västernorrland and Jämtland in the mid-eastern part of the country.
The projects will be operated by a joint venture comprising Statkraft and Svenska Cellulosa Aktiebolaget with the companies holding interests of 60% and 40% respectively.
The wind farms feature 123 Siemens turbines and join two smaller wind farms in the same area, Stamåsen and Mörttjärnberget, which were completed in 2013 and 2014.
Together, the four projects are expected to deliver up to 1.6TWh of power each year, or about 10% of all wind power generation in Sweden. They have a combined installed capacity of 514MW.
