Gamesa made a net profit of €72m in the first quarter of 2016, up 15% on the same period last year.
The company said excluding the impact of its Adwen joint venture with Areva, net profit was even higher at €80m.
The increases were down to record volumes – almost 1.1GW, up 49% – and earnings before interest and tax that amounted to €119m.
Gamesa increased revenues by 30% in the first quarter to €1064m. The revenue growth was mainly in the wind turbine area, which was up 34% on the same period last year.
Operation and maintenance revenues were stable, at €108m, Gamesa said.
Latin America contributed 27% of wind turbine sales in terms of MW, followed by India and Europe, the Middle East and Africa, 26% each).
The US accounted for 16% and Asia-Pacific for 5%, Gamesa said.
Orders in the first three months of 2016 were 1.031GW, bringing the total order book at the end of March to 3.167GW.
