The Timken Company has opened a motor and grearbox repair facility for wind turbines and industrial motors next to its existing service centre in Pasco, Washington state.
The $7m investment includes a 50 ton crane lift capacity with 35 feet clearance, 20 work station jib cranes, a vacuum pressurized impregnation system, burn and bake capability, machining and dynamic balance capabilities, a gearbox and motor test centre and dedicated bays for rotor repairs.
Timken Power Systems vice president Carl Rapp said: “This investment extends our US regional service centre network capabilities and positions us more completely support our industrial customers in the Pacific Northwest.”
Timken manager of the Pasco facility Nathaniel Glessner said: “It’s exciting now to be able to … offer customers large motor/generator repair capacity as well as introduce new capabilities to a broader market.”
