Siemens Gamesa is investigating, in cooperation with Tonstad Vindpark and Norwegian authorities, the death of a worker at the under-construction 208MW Tonstad wind farm near Sirdal in Vest-Agder County.
The Finnish national was employed by heavy transport outfit Silvasti on behalf of turbine supplier Siemens Gamesa.
The man was doing preparational work on the ground when he died during the night of 18 January, said a Tonstad Vindpark spokeswoman.
“The reasons for the man’s death and the circumstances surrounding a possible accident are currently being investigated by the police,” she added.
“We are now doing our best efforts to take care of everyone involved. We are fully cooperating with the police who have started investigations.
“We have also initiated our own investigations to take all measures possible in order to provide a safe working environment to all employees working at the Tonstad construction site.”
Tonstad, which consists of 51 Siemens Gamesa 4.1MW turbines, is due to be operational in the spring.
Tonstad Vindpark is co-owned by French developer Engie and Swiss asset management outfit Susi Partners.
