Trianel has acquired the 14.4MW Creußen wind farm in Bavaria as part of plans to grow its German renewable energy portfolio.
Developer Fronteris started construction of Creußen in August, with full commissioning expected in May next year.
The Creußen wind farm is located near Bayreuth and will feature six Nordex N117/2400 turbines with a hub height of 141m.
Trianel’s renewable energy unit TEE, partly-owned by 40 local and regional utilities, aims to operate at least 275MW of wind and solar plants across Germany by 2018. It bought its first wind project in March and a first wind farm in Bavaria in May.
The Creußen wind farm received its license before the 10 H wind turbine permitting rule came into effect in Bavaria. Under this regulation, the minimum distance from the nearest municipality must not be less than 10 times the height of a wind turbine.
“We expect the wind farm to produce 35m kilowatt hours of electricity per year”, said Trianel project manager Stefan Leclaire.
