Gamesa is to open a blade factory in Andra Pradesh in India to build G114 2.0MW class S units, custom designed for the local market.
The facility will have the capacity to manufacture 250 blades or 500MW a year and will be inaugurated in September.
The plant, which will be located in the town of Nellore, is expected to employ 400 people.
Gamesa chief executive officer in India Ramesh Kymal said: “By opening our third factory, we are stepping up our operations in a priority region for Gamesa, while generating wealth via job creation and purchases from local suppliers.”
In addition to the Nellore facility, Gamesa has another blade factory in Halol in Gujarat, a nacelle factory in Mamandur in Chennai and a repair centre in Red Hills also in Chennai.
