EDF power solutions UK has begun receiving turbine components for the 102MW Stranoch wind farm in Dumfries and Galloway, marking a major milestone in the project’s construction.
The first deliveries include blades and tower sections supplied by Vestas and transported under police escort by logistics contractor Colletts.
Convoys are leaving the Port of Cairnryan and travelling to the Stranoch site near New Luce in scheduled operations over the coming weeks and months.
EDF power solutions UK said convoys will typically run twice daily, with Police Scotland and the project’s transport team working to maintain traffic flow and allow cars to pass where possible.
Deliveries will continue during weekdays until early December, with all timings subject to police guidance, operational requirements and weather conditions.
Residents and road users are being advised to plan ahead and use alternative routes where possible, with regular updates provided by email and text messaging.
Stranoch wind farm comprises 20 turbines and began construction in May 2024, with completion expected in early 2027.
Earlier this year, EDF power solutions UK launched a £20,000 annual sponsorship fund supporting local community groups, which will later be replaced by a community benefit fund worth about £510,000 per year once the project is operational.
