Turbine deliveries have begun for Cubico and Stanwell Corporation’s 506MW Wambo wind farm in Queensland, Australia.
Harrison Infrastructure Group (HIG) has undertaken designs for road modifications at 38 points between the Port of Brisbane and the array site near Jandowae to allow delivery of the oversize components.
Construction of road upgrade works are scheduled to be completed by early 2025, which will provide access to all turbine locations.
“The HIG project team are to be commended for their hard work and dedication over the last two years,” said HIG.
“We’re proud of our team who are creating positive change and crafting a successful project
Consisting of 42 wind turbines, the first stage of the wind farm will add 252MW of clean energy to Queensland’s energy system.
The second stage will generate a additional 254MW of power from 41 wind turbines.
It is expected the project will create up to 200 new jobs during construction, and eight to nine ongoing management and maintenance jobs once the wind farm is operational, said the developers.
