A new survey reveals that the British public is becoming more worried about the effects of climate change ahead of the climate change summit in Paris next week.
The poll, carried out by YouGov for ActionAid found that 38% are more worried about the impact of climate change than they were five years ago.
Of these, 25% said they were more worried about the impact on people in developing countries and more than half, 53% think global leaders are not doing enough to tackle climate change. 52% said they are more worried about climate change generally.
ActionAid UK Chief Executive Girish Menon said: “Far too often climate change is dismissed as an issue for the future. But climate change is happening now, and is already destroying the lives some of the poorest people in the world.”
The survey results are being released to coincide with the launch of a new rain-triggered advert on the digital display at Piccadilly Circus ahead of the London climate march on November 29th. The advert will take over the display every time it rains for a week from November 24.
ActionAid wants people to join the London People’s Climate March on Sunday which demands that world leaders put the needs of developing countries like Bangladesh first.
ActionAid UK Chief Executive Girish Menon said: “The London Climate March is an opportunity to call on global leaders to ensure that any deal puts the most vulnerable countries like Bangladesh first.”
