Funds managed by UK-based Ancala Partners have acquired the 82MW Orites wind farm in Cyprus from Platina Energy Partners and local partner Kleanthis Ellinas for an undisclosed price.
The project, which is the largest wind farm on the island, has been operational since 2011 and comprises 41 Vestas V90-2MW turbines.
Orites produces around 5% of Cyprus’s entire electricity generation capacity and supplies Electricity Authority of Cyprus under a power purchase agreement with a fixed-rate tariff until 2031.
It represents about 25% of the island’s installed renewable energy capacity.
Law firm DLA Piper advised Platina Energy Partners and Kleanthis Ellinas on the sale.
The DLA Piper team was led by global co-chair of energy and natural resources Natasha Luther-Jones and corporate partner Stephen Atkinson.
They were assisted by associates Simon Winterburn, Emily Scrowston (corporate) and Sophie Linnell (projects).
