The UKA Group has sold the Warnsdorf wind park in Germany (pictured) to a special fund of Encavis Asset Management (EAM) for an undisclosed sum.

The project deploys 12 V126 wind turbines, manufactured by Vestas, with a total nominal output of 43.2MW to power the equivalent of 40,000 German households.

It saves more than 47,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year.

The systems were designed by the project development unit UKA Cottbus.

This was a repowering project, in which 12 outdated systems from 2001 were replaced with more efficient and modern ones.

The new wind turbines produce green electricity with 3.6 times the nominal output of the old systems.

UKA Group managing partner Gernot Gauglitz said: “I am delighted that we were able to successfully complete the transaction despite the current coronavirus crisis and thus continue our good cooperation with EAM.”

Encavis Asset Management chief executive Karsten Mieth added: “With electricity tariffs guaranteed for 20 years, the Warnsdorf wind farm is an ideal fit for the diversified portfolio of our specialist fund and is further proof that we are able to implement new and lucrative wind energy projects even in these challenging times.”

The subsidiary UKB (Umweltgerechte Kraftanlagen Betriebsführung) will continue to be responsible for the technical operations management of the systems.

The sale of the Warnsdorf wind farm marks the second successful joint transaction between Encavis Asset Management AG and UKA Group.
