US safety specialist UL has acquired consultants AWS Truepower to expand its renewable energy offering.
The deal will allow UL to offer full life-cycle solutions in the wind and solar energy sectors, it said.
AWS Truepower, based in Albany, is a renewable energy consultancy that offers project advisory, performance engineering, due diligence, information services and grid solutions.
The business complements UL’s clean energy offering, which is focused on testing, inspection, certification of systems.
AWS Truepower will continue operating under its brand name for the time being, UL said.
“UL and AWS Truepower have a shared mission and complementary businesses,” UL Energy & Power Technologies general manager Jeffrey Smidt said.
“As the market for renewable energy increases and demands a full life cycle service offering for renewable energy projects, the combined portfolios enable us to capture additional business globally.”
