Vestas has nailed orders totalling around 370MW for two wind development in the Netherlands.
The Danish firm has secured a 116MW order from Eneco for the Windpark Maasvlakte 2 project.
The order includes supply and installation of 13 V162-6.0MW turbines and nine V117-4.2MW turbines in 4.3 MW operating mode, which will be part of the wind farm Eneco is building in the Port of Rotterdam, by order of Rijkswaterstaat, the Directorate-General for Public Works and Water Management in the Netherlands.
Vestas will provide service for the project through a long-term Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreement and is planning to deliver the first turbines in the second quarter of 2022. Commissioning is due by the end of 2022.
Combined, the 22 wind turbines will generate 416 GWh of green electricity annually, which is enough to supply approximately 152,000 homes with power. In practice, the energy produced will contribute to making the Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management energy neutral, said Vestas.
The Danish company added that the project is complex as turbines will be erected on both the ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ sea defences around the industrial harbour of Maasvlakte 2. Vestas will install the EnVentus turbines with monopile foundations on the sport beach, and the rest of the turbines will be installed on the dike infrastructure.
“We are delighted to engage in this important new project for the Netherlands with Eneco, underlying the strong partnership we have and our shared vision for a sustainable future. This is a unique onshore wind project in the Netherlands, and has showed how we through close collaboration, Vestas can deliver the right solutions to specific sites,” said Nils de Baar, President of Vestas Northern & Central Europe.
Earlier today, Vestas received a 257MW order from Windkoepel Groen for a total of seven projects in the Netherlands.
The deal includes supply and installation of 37 V162-6.2 MW EnVentus wind turbines, with some delivered in 6MW operating mode, and eight V126-3.45 MW units in 3.8MW operating mode.
The seven projects are part of Windplan Groen, a collective initiative to repower existing wind farms in the eastern part of the Province of Flevoland. The individual owners are joined in Windkoepel Groen.
Vestas will provide service for the project through long-term Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service agreements.
Delivery of the first wind turbines will begin in the third quarter of 2022. The final units will be commissioned in late 2023.
“Vestas is pleased to be selected to provide our turbines to seven projects at the Windplan Groen complex,” added de Baar.
“This project is an excellent example of community members banding together to drive forward the clean energy transition, by adding new technology to existing sites in the Netherlands. We’re delighted to be working with several members of this collective initiative to deliver the right turbine solutions for their respective projects.”
