Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives (IEA) has been awarded a $50m (€41m) contract to construct Invenergy’s 200MW Plymouth Wind Energy Center in northwest Iowa.
The US contractor will carry out all of the engineering, procurement and construction needs of the project, including the erection of 73 GE turbines.
Construction work at Plymouth got underway this month and is expected to be completed in late 2021.
The Plymouth project is owned by the Chicago-based developer Invenergy.
IEA has to date constructed over 20GW of renewable energy projects in North America, including more than 240 wind and solar farms.
IEA president and chief executive JP Roehm said: “As technological advancements continue to drive down costs, wind energy has proven to be one of the most affordable, stable, and clean sources of new energy generation in Iowa.
“IEA is very pleased to not only leverage our expertise in wind construction in our partnership with Invenergy, but also to advance Iowa’s position as a national leader in renewable energy.”
