Valorem acquires 600MW of Finnish wind

French renewables player Valorem is acquiring four Finnish wind projects totalling over 600MW from Enersense Wind.

The four sites, Lapinsalo, Honkalankangas, Neittävänvaara and Lakkasuo, form part of the partnership agreement between the companies, renewed in May 2022, for an additional 1GW of wind projects to be developed across Finland by 2025, on top of 500MW already under development.

Since 2015, this positive mutual co-operation between the two partners has already brought to ready-to-build over 400MW of onshore assets in Finland to date including the Saunamaa, Suolakangas, Kalistanneva and Matkussaari wind farms.

Since 2016, Valorem has been co-developing with Enersense Wind the 50-turbine Yli-Olhava project in Li Municipality, located in the North-Ostrobothnia region.

A milestone was achieved on 28 February this year with the Supreme Administrative Court of Finland ruling. The request for leave to appeal regarding the adoption of the master plan was rejected, clearing the way for the next stages of development.

Construction is already underway on Kalistanneva and Matkussaari which make up the 313MW Viiatti wind project.

The 148.5MW Matkussaari site is 100% owned by Valorem.

The 165MW Kalistanneva wind farm was sold in 2022 to the Finnish consortium of Helen and Ålandsbanken Wind Power Fund and is being built by Valrea, the EPC subsidiary of Valorem.

Viiati is progressing according to expected execution timeline.

All the 57 turbine foundations are now built and civil works are completed, ready for the next transport stages, while electrical works (internal grid and sub-stations) are ongoing.

COD will be in the first quarter of 2025.
