Vestas raised the first V126-3.3MW turbine at the Frontier wind project in Oklahoma, marking the first time the machines have been installed in North America.
The Danish turbine manufacturer said it began delivering the goods on June 27 to the 200MW onshore wind farm, which is Duke Energy’s first renewable development in the midwestern state.
The project will utilize 61 of the turbines and could produce enough energy to power around 60,000 homes, Vestas said.
Construction is scheduled for completion in the third quarter of 2016.
