Vestas has secured an 86MW turbine order with Brazilian renewables developer PEC Energia for the Serra das Vacas wind park in the state of Pernambuco.

The project will feature 19 V150-4.5MW turbines that Vestas will supply and install.

The wind turbines will be locally produced under the Brazilian Development Bank (BNDES) FINAME rules.

Turbine delivery and commissioning are planned for 2024.

Vestas will also service the turbines for 25 years.

With this project, Vestas surpasses the milestone of 7GW of order intake in Brazil for 4MW platform wind turbines since 2018.

Vestas Latin America president Eduardo Ricotta said: “We are pleased with this first collaboration with PEC Energia.

“We are certain that the proven track record of our 4MW platform combined with the long-term service agreement will provide the certainty they need to power their client’s business in a broad range of industries with reliable, cost-competitive, and sustainable energy.”

Engeform Energia Renovável, the parent company of PEC Energia, is developing an 11GW pipeline of wind projects.

“Thanks to this deal with Vestas, we expect to build and operate our best projects to deliver to our corporate clients the most competitive source of energy in Brazil” said Gilberto Feldman, president and shareholder of Engeform Energia Renovável.

In Japan, Vestas has secured a 29MW order with Shimizu Corporation for the Makikawa Masaki wind farm project in Ehime prefecture.

Owned by GF Corporation and JR East Energy Development, the project will be constructed by Shimizu Corporation and will feature eight V105-3.45MW wind turbines in 3.6MW operating mode.

Delivery of the turbines for Makikawa Masaki Wind Farm will begin in the first quarter of 2025, with commissioning scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2025.

Vestas will also service the turbines for 20 years.
