Vestas has secured a service agreement for Senvion turbines at the Orjak wind farm in northern Croatia.
The contract with Vjetroelektrana Orjak, a daughter company of BayWa RE’s ECOwind Handels-und Wartungs, is for maintenance on five MM92-2.05 machines.
It also includes an 18-year active output management 4000 service agreement starting immediately.
Vestas Northern & Central Europe president Nils de Baar said: “Enlarging our Senvion service fleet in Europe, we are proud that Vjetroelektrana Orjak has chosen Vestas as service partner and we look forward to providing added value to our customer’s wind park lifecycle.
“Globally servicing more than 8GW non-Vestas turbines across the largest turbine brands, I am confident that trusting us means reaping the benefits of our experience, in-depth knowledge and technical expertise, regardless of turbine make and mark.”
ECOwind Handels-und Wartungs managing director Johann Janker said: “We have established a strong partnership with Vestas on multiple projects and are pleased to see this continue with Orjak.
“The 10MW project benefits from a long-term feed-in tariff and with Vestas now in place as service provider, it will ensure Orjak’s sustained operation at peak efficiency.”
Meanwhile, Vestas has hired Ragu Balanathan as its global head of electrical balance of plant and grid connection projects, effective from September.
Balanathan has over a decade of experience with turbine manufacturers and has been involved in the connection of more than 3GW of wind projects in Australia and South-East Asia.
He has worked as a consultant and for the National Electricity Market Management Company, which is now known as Australian Energy Market Operator.
Balanathan will be based in Melbourne in the Australia state of Victoria and will report to Vestas senior vice president of product management Thomas Scarinci.
Scarinci said: “As the global leader in sustainable energy solutions and having installed the most wind generation in the world, we find ourselves at the leading edge of the grid connection challenges seen in multiple countries.
“Today, we continue to build our team of world-class experts to maintain and strengthen our technology leadership position, as our partners would expect from Vestas.”
