Vestas has received turbine orders totalling 253MW for four projects in Russia from Fortum Energy and Rusnano joint venture Wind Energy Development Fund (WEDF).
The projects, Novoalekseevskaya, Grazhdanskaya, Ivanovskaya and Pokrovskaya, have all been developed by WEDF following the award to the fund of 1GW in the 2017 renewable energy auction in Russia.
Vestas will supply and install V126-4.55MW turbines at the 100MW Grazhdanskaya, 50MW Ivanovskaya and 86MW Pokrovskaya projects, which are located in southwest Russia near the city of Samara.
Deliveries for these three projects are planned for the second quarter of 2022 and full commissioning anticipated for late 2023.
The 17MW Novoalekseevskaya will benefit from the supply and installation of four V126-4.2MW machines.
Novoalekseevskaya is situated in the Kotovsky district of the Volgograd region, and will see turbines delivered in the third quarter of 2021, with full project commissioning due in the second quarter of 2022.
The latest orders takes Vestas’ tally in Russia to more than 800MW won in project capacity.
Vestas Northern & Central Europe president Nils de Baar said: “We’re thrilled to be cementing our partnership with WEDF through these four key wind power projects in Russia.
“These projects are demonstrating how the wind and renewable energy industry can thrive in Russia.
“Through our blade factory in Ulyanovsk and our track record in Russia, we are pleased to be part of the country’s clean energy transition.”
