Vestas has secured a 274MW order from EDF power solutions North America for the Madawaska wind project in Quebec, Canada.
The deal covers the supply of 25 V162-6.0MW and 20 V162-6.2MW EnVentus turbines, alongside a 10-year Active Output Management 5000 service agreement.
EDF power solutions said the project will provide clean energy to tens of thousands of homes and support local industrial development.
Madawaska is the second of three projects awarded to the company by Hydro-Quebec through its recent tender round.
“As the Madawaska project moves forward, we are committed to leveraging these strong partnerships to continue to make a meaningful impact on Quebec’s energy future,” said EDF power solutions North America president and chief executive Tristan Grimbert.
Vestas president for North America Laura Beane said: “Through continued investment in Quebec’s energy future, collectively we are helping pave the way for large-scale renewable development.”
The manufacturer has an installed base of over 5GW across Canada and services 428MW of operating turbines in Quebec, where it is currently building a further 347MW.
Quebec-based Marmen will supply towers for the Madawaska project, supporting 150 direct jobs at its Matane facility.
Delivery of the turbines is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2026, with commissioning due in the fourth quarter of 2027.
