Wind power capacity in India has reached over 37GW, according to the latest government figures.
The data from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, which covers installations up to the end of October, showed 37,090MW had been installed across the country.

Over 9.2GW had been installed in the region of Tamil Nadu, with Gujarat in second place with more than 7.2GW.
Maharashtra accounted for almost 4.8GW, followed by Karnataka with over 4.75GW, Rajasthan with nearly 4.3GW and Andhra Pradesh with close to 4.1GW.
India has set a target of 175GW of electricity to come from renewables by 2022, of which 60GW is scheduled to come from wind.
As of the end of October, total solar capacity in India stood at 31,696MW.
