ENERCON has received IECRE type certification for its E-175 EP5 E1 turbine and a provisional certificate for the E2 model at WindEurope in Madrid.
The company said TÜV Süd Industrie Service issued the certificates, marking key milestones in the market launch of its latest turbine models.
ENERCON added that the E-175 EP5 E1 and E2 have rotor diameters of 175 metres and nominal power outputs of 6.3MW and 7.0MW respectively.
“We are delighted to receive these certificates,” said Timo Müller, head of ENERCON platform management.
“They are important milestones in the market launch of the E-175 EP5 models – both the E1 and the higher-yield E2.”
ENERCON said the E2 model is central to its market strategy and is designed to support customers in delivering renewable energy projects.
The company noted that the E2 can achieve an increase in annual energy production of up to 2.8% depending on site conditions and is also available in a 6.0MW version.
ENERCON said the turbine can be deployed across a wide range of site conditions using hybrid steel tower technology with different hub heights.
The firm added that it has already secured supply agreements for the E2 in Germany, Turkey, Canada, the Netherlands, Austria, Lithuania and Portugal.
