Australian developer Tilt Renewables has deployed kit produced by UK company ZX Lidars to carry out wind resource studies in its home market.
The lidars have been deployed at a remote site in complex terrain to confirm project potential, the company said.
Lidar tools can remotely measure wind conditions above ground without the need for a traditional met mast.
Tilt Renewables engineering manager Sherrin Yeo said: “A key advantage of Lidar is that it can be easily mobilised and rotated to a number of sites within the Tilt Renewables’ portfolio.
“It and can be used flexibly for a range of purposes including feasibility assessments at potential new sites and improving the coverage of site measurements at existing sites.”
ZX Lidars provides vertical and horizontal profiling wind lidar to accurately measure wind conditions remotely and ahead of their installed position.
New Zealand engineering consultancy Energy3, which is a distributor for ZX Lidars, supplied the equipment to Tilt.
