In March 2021 Aquila Capital’s portfolio of renewables assets under management surpassed 10GW.
During 2020 the Hamburg-based investor acquired 3GW of capacity, mainly solar projects in development.
With the growing demand for renewables, solar PV provides a “stable and predictable cash flow, with relatively low volatility and an increasingly attractive risk-return profile”, said Aquila.
In total, Aquila Capital signed 12 transactions across hydroelectric, wind and solar photovoltaic investments.
In 2020 the geographic focus of Aquila’s investments was in Spain and Portugal, followed by Italy and Norway.
Aquila CEO and co-founder Roman Rosslenbroich said: “Renewable energies are at the core of our investment offering. We are proud to have reached the important milestone of having a renewable energy portfolio of 10.7GW.
“As investors in real assets, we continually seek attractive investment opportunities for our clients.
“In the next decade, the ongoing energy transition and the European Green Deal will open up even more opportunities to better align purpose and benefit.”
