Australia’s Clean Energy Finance Corporation will be allowed to invest in wind power projects under new Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull, reversing the position under the previous leader Tony Abbot, according to a Reuters report.
A spokesman for Environment Minister Greg Hunt said a new mandate had been issued for the fund in December that included investment in wind farms “as they incorporate ‘emerging and innovative’ methods”, Reuters reported.
It added that the content of the new mandate had not been released yet.
However, it cited the Sydney Morning Herald newspaper as reporting the fund is now encouraged to “focus on offshore wind technologies”.
