The Brazilian state of Piauí has entered into memorandum of understanding (MoU) agreements with companies in Europe which could lead to investment in growing the state’s renewables and green hydrogen sectors.
During a visit to Lisbon, Portugal, Governor Rafael Fonteles signed MoUs with German company Solar Outdoor Media, which intends to invest in Piauí.
Fonteles said: “CEO Luciano Guido just signed our memorandum of understanding and, like other businessmen, intends to make an investment in renewable energy, especially in solar energy, for the production of green hydrogen in Piauí.
“The group has projects all over the world and is betting on our State for this investment. Count on our support.”
Other companies to sign agreements with the state in relation to investing in growing its green hydrogen potential include Celeo Redes Brasil.
“We are interested in doubling our investments in the State.
“We have the opportunity and we would like to continue counting on the government to get these projects off the ground”, said Maurício Scovino, CEO of Grupo Celeo, after meeting with Fonteles in Lisbon.
All Energy has also become another strategic partner in the development of Piauí’s clean energy ecosystem, after signing an MoU with the state.
The company has activities that span construction and operation of wind and solar plants.
Quinta Solar Energia also signed an MoU.
The company already has a solar plant in the northern region of Piauí, with capacity to generate more than 1GW.
“Based on this MoU that we signed today, the company also plans to invest in green hydrogen, the fuel of the future, and has Piauí as a strategic partner for this undertaking,” added Fonteles.
