UK energy department BEIS has postponed its Green Great Britain and Northern Ireland (GB & NI) Week campaign to next year due to the ongoing Brexit negotiations.
In a statement, BEIS said Green GB & NI Week will be rescheduled to “early next year” from 4-8 November to “enable businesses and government to fully focus on EU exit preparations”.
BEIS was unable to provide a specific date for the second campaign.
Green GB & NI Week is an annual event to raise awareness of clean growth among businesses and the wider general public.
The first campaign was held in October 2018 when the government fired a volley of low-carbon policy announcements.
The second Green GB & NI Week is due to highlight the opportunities, benefits and challenges of the UK reducing carbon emissions to net zero by 2050.
The UK is due to suspend parliament for five weeks from 9 September until 14 October amid the ongoing Brexit negotiations.
