Canadian utility Emera has issued a call for clean energy for delivery across the border to the US in New England.
Emera plans to bundle the energy with transmission services on the proposed Atlantic Link, a 350-mile 900MW subsea cable joining New Brunswick and Massachusetts.
The utility proposes to offer the package in a clean energy request for proposals to be conducted in Massachusetts in early 2017.
Interested parties must give notice of intention to participate by 20 January and the deadline for proposals is 12 April.
Emera expects to select the winners in May and execute contracts in June. Projects are to be in-service by 2022.
The Atlantic Link is 100% owned by Emera. Provincial utility NB Power holds an option to participate in the transmission project as a minority investor.
