Chinese turbine manufacturers secured 78% of the 176GW of global wind capacity added in 2025, Wood Mackenzie said.
The analyst said total additions rose 45% year-on-year, marking the strongest annual growth on record, with China becoming the first country to exceed 100GW of installations in a single year.
Wood Mackenzie added that installations outside China grew 22%, with more than 60 countries connecting new capacity and China, the United States, India and Germany leading volumes.
Chinese OEMs filled the top six global rankings, with nine manufacturers achieving record deliveries and overseas installations reaching 8.5GW across 22 markets.
Goldwind and Envision each exceeded 20GW of installations for the first time, driven by scale, competitive pricing and rapid deployment strategies.
Western OEMs retained strength outside China, securing 75% of ex-China installations and supplying turbines to almost 50 countries.
“Outside China, installations grew 22%, supported by strong activity across Asia Pacific, Europe, North America and emerging regions in Africa and Central Asia,” said Endri Lico, principal analyst at Wood Mackenzie.
“Latin America was the only region to contract.”
