The Danish Energy Agency has updated its projections for the cost of existing support mechanisms for renewable electricity generation up to 2030, showing a fall to about Dkr3bn (€402m) from over Dkr6bn in 2019.
The projection covers funding under the current frameworks and adopted policy and does not include support costs for future initiatives, DEA said.
“The general decrease in expenditure is an indication that a number of aid schemes are expiring and that support for many existing plants expires during the period,” it said.
Therefore, the figure should not been seen as a forecast for the long-term support level for renewable energy, but “merely a projection of expenditure on measures adopted”, DEA added.
It also noted that the costs are “very sensitive as they are influenced by changes in a number of factors, including electricity prices, weather conditions and plant capacity”.
