The Danish government has reached an agreement to accelerate the development of green fuels, through a tender to support the construction of 4-6GW of power-to-x capacity by 2030.
The agreement consists of a subsidy scheme of Dkr1.25bn (€16.7m) in the form of a government tender for hydrogen production, better framework conditions for producers and other measures.
The tender will support development of green hydrogen and related infrastructure to produce green fuels for the aerospace, maritime and heavy road transport sectors, both for domestic and export markets.
The agreement has been reached between parties the Danish Parliament, including Denmark’s Liberal Party, Socialist People’s Party, Radical Left, Unity List, Conservative People’s Party, Danish People’s Party, The Alternative and Liberal Alliance, as the energy crisis and Ukraine invasion continue to unfold.
Danish Minister of Climate, Energy and Supply Dan Jorgensen said: “With the agreement, we strengthen the climate, Danish industry and green security of supply.
“I am very pleased that we have broad political agreement to set the goal so high that Denmark can play more than a national role in the development and production of new fuels.”
“With the new agreement, we remove the known barriers to large-scale PtX, and instead pave the way for the production of new green fuels and a better and more flexible use of our energy system,” says climate, energy and supply spokeswoman for the Social Democrats, Anne Paulin.
