UK developer Anesco will partner with Shell on a battery storage project in Norwich, eastern England.
The energy storage system will be sited at the Bacton gas terminal. Details on project size and completion date are unknown at this stage.
Anesco will provide the design, procurement, installation, commissioning and maintenance of the utility-scale system.
Anesco executive chairman Steve Shine said: “We are delighted to be partnering with Shell New Energies on this exciting new project in the storage sector.
“It marks another significant milestone for us at Anesco. We have fully complied with Shell’s high standards of quality and safety and that is a massive compliment to the Anesco team.”
The agreement is with Shell New Energies, a division of the oil and gas company that invests in new and fast-growing segments of the energy industry.
