Canadian outfit CellCube Energy Storage Systems is to develop 100MW of energy storage projects in the US in partnership with an unnamed local energy project developer.
CellCube said the projects will be deployed over the next two to three years and provide offtake agreement resources for independent system operators and regional transmission operators.
The storage will be standalone plants or linked with solar to offer power for trading and ancillary services products, it said.
Projects will include both in-front-of- and behind-the-meter deployments, CellCube added.
CellCube president Stefan Schauss said: “The company is signaling a long awaited milestone for deployments of energy storage systems in new capacity driven market applications based on the vanadium redox flow technology.
“CellCube is moving into focus for grid capacity applications and these projects position the company to become a reliable partner in energy storage as grid capacity.”
