The Chinese subsidiary of EDF Renewables is working with local battery company Narada to develop energy storage projects in China.
As part of the agreement, EDF has acquired a 1.5MW storage project owned by Narada that has been operating since September last year.
The Zhenjiang facility is located in Jiangsu province and provides 12,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity a day for an industrial park.
The agreement between the two companies paves the way for the expansion of the project, Narada said.
Narada vice chairman Wang Yueneng said: “Narada is pleased to partner with EDF Renewables to deliver clean energy to its customers through Zhenjiang energy storage system project.”
EDF Renewables China chief executive Tian Yue said: “EDF Renewables is excited about the partnership with Narada.
“Under this new innovative structure, with a battery storage system that can power the future by providing end-users with smart and sustainable energy solutions.”
