A German consortium consisting of EMERGY, Gelsenwasser, Stadtwerke Münster and Trianel have signed a memorandum of understanding to develop a 50MW green hydrogen electrolyser in the Coesfeld area.
In a joint feasibility study, the four partners are investigating a project in the Münsterland region.
The fuel is then to be fed into the hydrogen core network. The implementation of the GreenLink Münsterland project is to take place by 2028.
MERGY Führungs-und Servicegesellschaft managing director Ron Keßeler said: “The GreenLink Münsterland project offers the opportunity to optimally combine the building blocks needed for the success of the energy transition in a region with a lot of renewable energies and direct proximity to the emerging hydrogen core network.
“The Coesfeld site offers very good conditions for this.”
The MoU regulates the cooperation of the project partners in the pre-project development phase.
Stadtwerke Münster managing director Sebastian Jurczyk said: “With this project, we will gain important first-hand experience in the field of hydrogen and further build up our knowledge and expertise.
“We can contribute our know-how in the context of grid transformation to the project.”
In the coming months, the feasibility study will be advanced, which will include in particular the identification of suitable locations and the evaluation of possible funding options.
