Intelligent Land Investments (ILI) Group has announced the successful sale of their 50MW battery storage project in Scotland to EDP Renewables (EDPR).
The Balnacraig project in the Highlands is expected to play an important role in grid management, offering flexibility and supporting the country’s renewable energy strategy.
The construction is set to kick off in a few months, with the aim of start operation until the beginning of 2025.
This transaction brings the total to 900MW of energy storage projects that ILI Group has progressed to the development stage.
The company has an ‘overall portfolio of 4.7GW of energy storage projects across Scotland, including 2.5GW of pumped storage hydro and 2.5GW of battery storage.
EDPR is investing in optimising resources and improving energy efficiency by developing energy storage projects in the UK, one of its key European markets.
