South Korean company Kokam is developing domestic battery storage projects totalling 13MW for two local renewables developers.
Kokam is installing 5MW of energy storage at three sites linked to 5MW of solar capacity under development by Razzler in the Chungchoeng region of the country.
A further 8MW of storage will be combined with 10MW of photovoltaic capacity at nine sites being built by Korea Midland Power across the country.
Kokam said most of the storage capacity will be made up of the company’s new 100 Ah HE NMC cell.
Both projects are expected to be operating by the end of the year.
Kokam power solutions division vice president Ike Hong said: “These two new projects and the introduction of our new high-energy 100 Ah HE NMC cell illustrate that we provide the technology and expertise that PV and other renewable energy project developers and owners need to integrate safe, high-energy storage into their projects.”
