R Power and Axpo have signed an optimisation agreement for the 150MW/300MWh Magazyn Energii Jedwabno battery project in Kuyavian-Pomeranian Voivodeship.
The companies said the deal, which runs until 31 December 2037, will support one of the largest utility-scale storage schemes under development in Poland.
They added that Axpo will optimise the operation of the facility under a profit share model with a guaranteed minimum revenue level.
Construction of the Jedwabno project has already started and the scheme will be among the largest of its kind once completed.
Mateusz Marczewski, Axpo Polska managing director, said: “I’m delighted to be extending our cooperation with R.Power into a new area, namely the optimisation of energy storage facilities”.
He added: “A key aspect of this project was to design a contract aligned with dynamically evolving operational and regulatory standards”.
Rafał Hajduk, chief commercial officer at R.Power, said: “The development of the Jedwabno energy storage facility is a strategic step in expanding our portfolio of flexibility assets, supporting renewable energy integration and the security of the Polish power system”.
Hajduk stated: “Cooperation with Axpo provides us with advanced optimisation tools and a commercialisation model that will help us enhance the project’s efficiency throughout its lifetime”.
The agreement builds on a medium-term power purchase pact from 2021 covering around 300MW of solar capacity.
