RES is to supply an energy storage system for a test project at the Energy Department’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) wind technology center.
RES will provide its Resolve system for the 1MW/1MWh energy storage project.
The equipment is expected to be installed by April.
Staff from the NREL will then utilise the 10 plus demonstrated applications of Resolve to “test certain modes ranging from frequency regulation and renewable energy integration, to more advanced modes such as ‘black start’ and seamless grid-to-island transition”, RES said.
RES is partnering with LG Chem to supply batteries for the system, SMA to provide the power conversion system unit and Siemens to install the pad mount transformer.
