Energy storage accounted for 3.2GW of the 52.43GW secured in the latest UK capacity market auction for 2020–2021 delivery.
The clearing price for the auction was £22.5/kW a year.
Centrica was among the winners with its 49MW battery storage facility at Roosecote in Cumbria.
EDF Energy also secured a 15-year agreement for its planned 49MW battery storage facility at West Burton from October 2020 to September 2035.
A further 711MW of capacity was taken by hydro power in the auction.
The results are provisional for a period of eight working days, during which time the Secretary of State decides whether the auction was conducted correctly.
If everything is deemed correct, the National Grid will then make the final results public.
