Tesla has completed installation of the 100MW energy storage system at Neoen’s 100MW Hornsdale 1 wind farm in South Australia.
Testing is underway and the lithium-ion battery facility is expected to be energised in the next few days, according to the South Australian state government.
The Tesla Powerpack will charge using renewable energy from Hornsdale and then deliver electricity during peak hours to help maintain the reliable operation of South Australia’s electrical infrastructure.
South Australia Premier Jay Weatherill will join representatives from Neoen, Tesla and Consolidated Power Projects next week to officially launch the battery.
