Total-owned battery storage supplier Saft has inaugurated a new factory in Zhuhai, China.
The production capacity of the new plant will be around 200 containers per year, or the equivalent of 480 megawatt-hours.
Saft has energy storage production facilities in three continents with the opening of the Chinese factory.
The other two sites are in Bordeaux, France and Jacksonville in Florida, in the US.
Saft said the new factory will enable it to support its customers around the world with an integrated approach to energy storage, from initial concept and sizing of the system to engineering, including delivery and connection to the grid.
Saft ESS and mobility division executive vice president Herve Amosse said: “The investment in our Zhuhai production line demonstrates our growth and how we have moved from a battery manufacturer to a supplier of complete energy solutions.
“Customers turn to us today for fully integrated micro-grid and energy storage solutions. “
The Zhuhai plant already manufactures Intensium Max 20 High Energy containers, which have a power output of 1.2MW and a storage capacity of 2.5MWh, for integration of renewable energy into the grid.
