Trina Storage has signed its first energy storage agreement in Greece with PPC Renewables for the 50MW/200MWh Amyntaio project in Western Macedonia.
The installation, among the largest battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Greece, will be delivered on a turnkey AC basis using Trina’s Elementa platform.
The system will include 60 Elementa 2 battery cabinets and eight integrated power conversion and medium-voltage enclosures, giving a nameplate capacity of about 244MWh.
Trina Storage said the project will provide grid services including frequency regulation, renewable integration and capacity adequacy.
The deal also includes a 10-year long-term service agreement covering full maintenance, monitoring, and performance guarantees.
Head of Trina Storage Europe Gabriele Buccini said: “Greece is rapidly emerging as a key energy storage market in Europe, driven by auctions, policy support, and the need to integrate its abundant renewable resources. The Amyntaio project is not only our first in Greece but also an important signal of our long-term commitment to develop a multi-GWh pipeline in Southeastern Europe.”
The company added that the project strengthens its European footprint, which already includes more than 50 projects across the UK, Germany, Italy, Spain and Eastern Europe with a total contracted capacity exceeding 4GWh.
