This afternoon members of the European Parliament (MEPs) will debate how to finance the Green Deal and make it socially balanced.
As part of the session European Commission executive vice presidents Frans Timmermans and Valdis Dombrovskis will present the legislative proposals on the sustainable investment plan and the ‘Just Transition’ fund, followed by a debate.
They will also present a ‘Roadmap to a Social Europe’.
MEPs are expected to underline that the necessary financial resources must be allocated to an ambitious European Green Deal but that it must be socially balanced.
On Wednesday 15 January, MEPs will vote on a resolution outlining the European Parliament’s views on the European Green Deal, winding up the debate that was held in December.
