EV Network has secured over 1000 locations across the UK to install ultra-fast charging stations for electric vehicles.
The UK-based charging station development company is working with Swiss battery manufacturer and energy storage provider Leclanche, power utilities ESB and Eon, and German EV joint venture Ionity on the stations.
Leclanche will provide a full turnkey solution with both low voltage and medium voltage options available to allow different grid connections and capabilities.
The solution will come with an integrated energy management system allowing the batteries to communicate with the chargers and reduce costs to the charging station operators and their customers.
In addition, Leclanche will provide energy storage systems at the stations with a 1MW/1MWh capacity to provide grid services.
In a related development, ScottishPower chief executive Keith Anderson told All-Energy delegates in Glasgow on Wednesday that one of the company’s key areas of focus over the next 10 years will be on electric vehicles.
ScottishPower is planning a charging system that overcomes the challenge of Glasgow residents having no personal off-street parking.
The company hopes it becomes a template for other cities across the UK facing similar problems.
“We have a large supply of renewable energy on our doorstep and one of only two Low Emission Zones in action across the UK,” said Anderson.
